Blackstone, in Nottoway County, is a charming community in the south side region of Virginia. It is served by State Highway 40 and US Highway 460 with 5 other primary routes. It's only about 48 miles southwest of Richmond, 80 miles east of Lynchburg and 100 miles southwest of Williamsburg.

Nottoway Parish became Nottoway County by legislative act in 1788. The county was also the site of the "Battle of the Grove" during the Civil War, which was fought over control of the railroad in Nottoway which served as a major supply line to General Robert E. Lee's army.

The Blackstone Arts and Crafts Festival attracts some of the best artists on the East Coast with a wide variety of handcrafted products. Other well-attended festivals include the Virginia Chicken Festival, Texas Festival, Crewe Homecoming, Emergency Squad Seafood Festival and Burkefest.
